Driving More Traffic to your Website
There are quite a few ways to drive traffic to your website outside of relying on the Internet and search engines. In fact, solely relying on web marketing and the search engines to drive traffic to your website is a big mistake especially for a new business.
There are tactics that require little effort and that can be incorporated pretty quickly to drive traffic to your site.
- Consider adding your domain name to your phone message.
- Leave your domain name as part of a message that you leave for others.
- Add your domain name to the signature in your email.
- Pass out your business card to EVERYONE that you meet.
- Send out regular e-newsletters – instead of having the content for the newsletter in the email just add a very short summary and a link to a page on your site that contains the newsletter. You may want to consider archiving your newsletters on a Blog like this article.
- Use an email address that reflects your domain name. For example, if your domain name is www.mywebsite.com use an address such as bob@mywebsite.com. Each time someone sees your email address you will in essence be promoting your domain name.
- Set up accounts with as many directories that you can find that are related to your business. Many of the listings are free and allow you to create a profile with your domain name.
- Be sure to choose a domain name that is short, memorable, easy to say, easy to spell, and is relative to your business name.
These simple techniques should complement any web marketing and search engine optimization techniques that you are currently using.
When it comes to driving traffic to your website, consider the hub and spoke analogy. If your website is the hub and the more spokes you have leading to the hub, the stronger the structure of the wheel.
